Make for a happier Monday morning at work

Monday morning blues – we've all been struck down by these at some point or another, with any number of aspects making us feel less than perfect at the start of a working week.
Whether it's the thoughts of a stressful week ahead, a tiring weekend or simply the darker early mornings getting workers down, making sure they come in ready to work and be productive is important.
One of the key ways you can do this is to make sure that they have a presentable and fantastic office space to come to work in.
Anyone who comes into the office on a Monday morning to find a cluttered desk, overflowing bins and toilets that have yet to be cleaned will immediately feel like they are back in the midst of a hard working week, rather than being eased in.
And of course, a lot of this is down to staff themselves. Few of us will think about tidying the desks when we are ready to leave on a Friday evening – preferring to get home and on with our weekends.
This is where managers can have a real impact on the morale of their staff by helping them help themselves.
On a Friday afternoon, why not set aside the last ten minutes of the day to allow people to clear out their desks, wipe them down and throw away anything thereon that they will not need?
They may not thank you for it at the time, but when people come back into the office on a Monday and find a sparkling uncluttered desk at which to work, they will feel much brighter, happier and ready to go than they would if their desk was coffee stained and piled high with unnecessary files.
Other ways to promote Monday morning harmony at work can include providing free fruit for the morning, or even being flexible, allowing staff to work from home on the first day of the week to ease them back into working after the weekend.
