How clean is your office: Top tips for tidiness

Posted on: Friday, August 9th, 2013

Everyone knows the old adage that a tidy desk makes for a tidy mind, and that people are far more likely to be focussed and organised if the workspace they are in each day is well set out and clean – and this can go for the whole office environment, not just individual desks, meaning that cleaning is a key consideration.

Cleaning contractors are the best way to make sure that every office is as clean and tidy as possible on a regular basis, but as well as this, there are a number of ways that those in charge can make sure the workplace is as conducive to good work as possible.

Filing things away

When everything is in its place, it makes for a much less cluttered space, and this is something that will aid concentration. Managers can help out their staff by making sure that they have access to box files or even a separate room which they can access to keep all of their work in order at all times.

Declutter desks

Having a quick wipe of our desk each night might be the way most of us choose to keep the place clean and hygienic, but taking a real look at a workspace will tell the true story. Most desks will be full of old business cards, scraps of paper and pens that have long run out.

Managers can assist with this sort of tidiness in any office by making some time available for staff to declutter their desks and take some pride in the place they work each day by having it organised and tidy.

The kitchen

Anyone who has ever worked in an office will attest to the fact that the kitchen can sometimes be a nightmare. Spilled coffee, a dirty microwave and overflowing bins can all lead to tension between staff.

This can be diffused with a simple rota however, setting out who is responsible for the cleanliness of the office kitchen on any given week, bringing some harmony and a peaceful working environment to the team.
