When placing a few quid on a horse race do you imagine how it would feel to win? A wheelie bin cleaner from Nottinghamshire need not simply envision the scenario any more as he has become one of the country’s biggest betting-shop victors.
Craig Brazier, heralding from Mansfield, won a jackpot of over £1.3 million after he staked a £2 bet on six different horses racing at events across the UK. However, he’s revealed the windfall won’t ward him off cleaning wheelie bins, as he has vowed to continue working.
How would you spend your winnings? Mr Brazier has no splurges in mind, as he just wants to buy a five-bedroom home and take his wife and children to Walt Disney World in Florida.
The lucky man was one of eight winners to received a slice of a jackpot worth over £10 million! The ‘Scoop 6’ is a country-wide competition in which entrants try their hand at predicting the winners of six different races. If nobody is fortunate enough to win, the kitty rolls over to the next week – much like the Lotto.
Mr Brazier chanced his luck on Chatez at Haydock last Saturday (May 24th). The 39 year-old father of two said he only placed the bet as he had £2 left in his pocket after purchasing some fish bait.
He said: “"It's the best two quid I have ever spent. "Tracy was dozing off on the sofa and even though I was into the last leg with five winners already, she said, 'you're not lucky enough to win that'… I woke her up watching the last race screaming, 'he's won it'.
"I was jumping round the living room and dropped to my knees in shock when the horse won. I could not breathe when I realised I won the money… I just cannot believe how big this is."
His total winnings so far amount to £1,342,599 and he could with a further £5 million if he’s lucky enough to win a bonus race happening over the coming weekend.
