Office cleaning: A summer essential

August 6th, 2013 Category: Office Cleaning

Office cleaning is an essential for any workplace throughout the year to make sure that staff are able to complete their jobs in an area that is sanitary, hygienic and free from any nasty smells, all of which, if not done properly, can lead to problems with staff and their output and work rates.

This is more crucial than ever though when it comes to the warm weather that we are experiencing at the moment, when offices can become a hotbed for germs and bacteria, with members of staff getting hot and stuffy while they spend eight hours at their desk.

The key areas for cleaning firms to target will be desks themselves. With the clammy weather, office workers can end up getting a bit sweaty and equipment can become unhygienic. Wiping down of things like keyboards and mice will stop the spread of germs and bacteria and stop the office from developing an unpleasant odour.

On top of this, it is also key to ensure that carpets are cleaned well and thoroughly. In an age where more and more workers are almost glued to their desk, it is not uncommon to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner all at the office, and food can be dropped onto floors easily. This needs to be cleaned up as soon as possible to prevent it from perishing and leaving a smell in the office.

Normally, vacuuming would be enough to keep this in check, but cleaning firms might also want to try shampooing the carpets once a week in order to eradicate the bacteria from food that can become embedded within the fibres and cause problems later.

And even if offices where it is quieter and the bins only get emptied every few days, with the arrival of hotter weather, it could be a great idea to empty them once every day to stop disposed food and drinks from making a smell in the office when the staff arrive in the morning for their daily work.
